Jews In Space

Jewish Museum of Maryland

"Shedding light on the prominent yet not always recognized impact that the Jewish people have had on the study, exploration, and fictionalization of space."

"Jews In Space" is a 2,000 square-foot exhibition created by the Jewish Museum of Maryland exploring the Jewish contributions to astronomy, space exploration, science fiction, and Maryland's own role in space history. The exhibit spans from Hillel II fixing the Jewish calendar around A.D. 360 to modern figures like astronaut Judith Resnik, Isaac Asimov, Leonard Nimoy, and Stanley Kubrick.

Aether developed the exhibit's interactive astronaut profile touchscreen - a two-screen system where visitors select a Jewish astronaut or cosmonaut on a small touchscreen, and their full biographical profile appears on a large display. The installation debuted at the Jewish Museum of Maryland in Baltimore in September 2020 and later traveled to the Center for Jewish History in Manhattan.
